Triple M NRL's Wendell Sailor has urged Mitchell Pearce to join the Newcastle Knights, as the former Rooster ponders his club future.
Sailor told foxsports.com.au, the bigger challenge for Pearce would be to join the Knights ahead of Manly, who are also in the mix to sign Pearce.
"If Mitchell really wants a challenge, if Mitchell really wants the halfback spot, I think he should go to Newcastle," Sailor told foxsports.com.au.
"Because if he goes to Manly, I think he and Cherry play a similar style of football.
"I know Manly might be a stronger fit for him, but if he went to Newcastle it could be a good change.
"He can be laid-back, he’s 28 now, if he goes up there I reckon the Newcastle Knights will be smokies next year."
The Knights would be the more lucrative, both financially and as a lifestyle, for Pearce with the Knights willing to offer upwards of $1million a season for his playing services.
In addition, reuniting with good mates Shaun Kenny-Dowall, Connor Watson and Aidan Guerra could also persuade Pearce to join the Knights.
