New Computer Program Means The Days Of Gaming During Class Are Over

A new Australian-made program will ensure that kids will no longer have the chance to engage in some online shopping or gaming during school hours.

NSW schools are set to trial the program, called edQuire, which uses colour coding to alert the supervising teacher of any off-task computer activity.

The colour system shows content as red (not working on lesson), green (on task), blue (likely to be on task) and orange (email or Google search) to easily flag with the teacher what each student is up to online.

Benefits include the ability to monitor lesson progress more closely, the immediacy of detection if a student is falling behind, and it encourages students to self-regulate their screen time with a greater awareness of their browsing habits.
