A pub siege in regional NSW is over after a 23-hour stand-off.

The 51-year-old man responsible surrendered to police after being convinced by officers to get down from the roof of the Locomotive Hotel in Junee.

The man had been pacing with a machete in hand.

Junee was in lockdown since 10am yesterday when the man first took to the roof.

He has been taken to Wagga Wagga Rural Referral Hospital.
