Duck hunters planning to head to a Brickworks Billabong and Merbein Common must head elsewhere, with the property off limits this Duck Season.
The site is among nine locations that are closed in order to protect threatened species of birds, like the blue-winged shoveller and Freckled Duck.
All hunters will be required to pass a test to distinguished between game and non game species, with the pass rate also raised.
Authorized officers and Victoria Police will be monitoring wetlands and the number of birds closely throughout the season.
Game Management Authority Director Simon Toop says hunters can head to alternative locations like State Game Reserves, which is within three hour's drive of Mildura.
The Game Management Authority will be updating wetlands opening and closing throughout the season on their website.
