A sailor had to be rescued yesterday afternoon after his 10 metre yacht became wedged on a sand bar off Shoal Point. An emergency beacon was set off on board Shoreline Song by a man in his 50's after he misjudged the tide levels near Little Green Island. The RACQ CQ helicopter promptly located the boat and man.
Realestate company Domain has released its quarterly housing report with Mackay showing a sharp price decline. Regional Queensland though has steadied with many areas likely reaching a boundary for price growth. The company's Chief Economist Andrew Wilson says the region has seen a significant annual decline of 6.4 per cent annually.
The Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Foundation has celebrated 45 Mackay students graduating Year 12 on scholarships in a ceremony at CQU yesterday.
