Deer stoush heats up

Clive Palmer's Gold Coast resort staff are meeting with city council over the billionaire's explosive deer-hunting claims.

It's after the former politician took to Facebook to claim council staff armed with rifles entered his Merrimac property last year to shoot deer, before selling the meat to local restaurants.

But Mayor Tom Tate said he looked into the alleged incident and denies council or contractors at animal management or pest control were involved.

A meeting was set up between council and resort staff for Monday.
