Damning Report Gives GCH Fail Mark For Young Doctor Care

The Australian Medical Association has given Gold Coast Health [GCH] a massive thumbs down when it comes to taking care of young doctors.

AMA Queensland's annual junior doctor public hospital report card gave GCH a D- for 2018, down from a C+ in 2017.

The RHHC survey found more than half of junior doctors experienced or witnessed bullying or harassment on the job, a staggering increase from 17 per cent last year.

While 74 per cent were also concerned about potential negative consequences if they reported such behaviour.

The worst results were in access to annual leave and the amount of overtime hours they were forced to do at any of the GCH facilities, including Gold Coast University Hospital and Robina Hospital.

It wasn't all bad news however, with significant improvements in payment for unrostered overtime from 20 per cent in 2017 to 52 per cent.
