Motorcyclist dies in Budgewoi collision

Minibus involved.


Police have confirmed a motorcyclist was on the wrong side of the road when he smashed into a minibus at Budgewoi yesterday.

He's yet to be identified, following the collision on Budgewoi Road just after midnight.

It's understood he was at the Budgewoi Hotel before heading off on his bike, and officers say the minibus he hit was a courtesy bus from the same pub.


YESTERDAY: A motorcyclist has died in a crash in Budgewoi.

Just after midnight today, emergency services were called to Budgewoi Road, following reports a motorcyclist had been involved in a crash with a minibus.

Police from Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

The male rider, believed to be aged in his 40s, died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.

The 23-year-old male driver was taken to Wyong Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

A brief will be prepared for the Coroner.

It's the second accident in our region where a motorcyclist has died in the space of a week. Last Monday, a 49 year old man died in Toukley, after coming off the road on his trailbike on Moss Avenue.

It takes the road toll for the Coast this year to 16.
