Facelift For Coast Palliative Care Unit

Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast Scot MacDonald MLC today joined representatives from the Central Coast Local Health District and Central Coast Councillor Jilly Pilon to announce a $25,000 grant from the NSW Liberal National Government for remediation works to the Palliative Care Building at Long JettyHealthcare Facility.

The funding will go towards internal refurbishment of the Palliative Care Unit, including replacement of the carpet and fresh paint.

Mr MacDonald thanked the Minister for Health the Hon. Brad Hazzard MP for taking a personal interest in the request from the Central Coast Local Health District.

“This funding ensures that the exceptional Health staff and nurses have a clean, safe and modern working environment,” Mr MacDonald says.

“These funds are welcomed from the State Government, enabling necessary remediation works to take place in the Palliative Care Unit at Long Jetty. The improvements give staff a better working environment and assist quality of life for both patients and their families,” Ms Pilon said.

While the Local Health District says there won't be any interruptions to the palliative care services provided to the community.

"Staff have been relocated and will continue to provide these services from various health and community settings while the work is carried out," a spokesperson says.

"Community members requiring palliative care assistance while the building works are underway should talk to their GP or specialist or call 4336 7777."
