5 Things You Might Not Know About Thriller?

  1. Jackson reunited with Quincy Jones to make Thriller, and they actually had a list of thirty songs to work with, before they whittled it down to the nine that made the cut.
  2. Jackson recruited some superstars to help make this album shine. None other than Eddie van Halen (Beat It), Steve Lukather from Toto (Beat It), actor Vincent Price (Thriller), and a bloke you just might have heard of... Mr Paul McCartney (The Girl Is Mine).
  3. To date, Thriller is still the best selling album of all time. OF ALL TIME!
  4. Quincy Jones has been quoted that he and Jackson had a grand plan with this album, and that was to kill disco dead. “Our underlying plan was to take disco out. That was the bottom line,” Jones has reportedly said. “It had gone far enough.” Fair to say their plan worked.
  5. Of the nine songs that made the final cut, Jackson only wrote four. But what a four to write. Beat It, Wanna Be Startin' Something, Billie Jean and (ahem) The Girl Is Mine (not a fave around these parts of town).

Living It Live

Look... we've looked at this a few times and we're pretty sure MJ's miming in this clip, so technically, it's not live... but it's famous for a few reasons and highlights what we absolutely loved about this guy. Not only was he a great singer and songwriter, he was also pretty bloody good at dancing.
